DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Background investigative
techniques experience; experience with complex investigations;
good report writing, interviewing, and investigative skills;
knowledge of or willingness to learn about race horses and the
common procedures and practices that are used in the horse
racing industry; ability to gain the respect and trust of the
horse racing industry; knowledge of drug enforcement practices;
and knowledge of the veterinary practices used in the horse
racing industry. Those with Spanish bilingual skills are
encouraged to apply. SPECIAL PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Work
irregular hours, holidays, and weekends; to travel frequently in
southern California and occasionally throughout the State. Good
writing skills; interpersonal skills; ability to follow
directions; ability to work independently and as a team member.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Other monthly benefits may include
Spanish bilingual pay of $100; Intermediate POST certification
or an Associates degree pay of $50 or Advanced Post
certification or a Bachelors degree pay of $100; and Physical
Fitness pay of $65. It is the policy of the CHRB that no person
may be hired as an employee if that person has been convicted of
a felony, or any gambling-related offense, therefore, all
employees are subject to a background check. You are eligible to
apply if you are currently in the Senior Special Investigator
classification; on the State Restriction of Appointment (SROA)
list for the same or a comparable classification; a surplus
employee in the same or comparable classification; have
reinstatement eligibility to the same or comparable
classification; are in a classification comparable and
transferable; or reachable on a Senior Special Investigator
eligibility list.
