DETENTION OFFICER

Lubbock County Detention Center

 

All applications are reviewed to ensure the minimum requirements have been met.
Detention Officer Requirements:

  1. Be at least 21 years of age

  2. Not have been arrested for a Class B Misdemeanor offense in the past 10 years, and have never been convicted of an offense of Class A Misdemeanor or any Felony, which includes a sentence of Deferred Adjudication.

  3. Possess a valid Texas Driver’s License

  4. High school diploma or GED

  5. Complete a language skill and reading comprehension test

  6. Have not been discharged from any military service under less than honorable conditions including specifically:

        • Under other than honorable conditions

        • Bad conduct

        • Dishonorable

        • any other characterization of service indicating bad character

Beginning Salaries

Detention Clerk: Begins $11.01/hr

Detention Officer: Begins $14.773/hr

Detention Corporal: Begins $18.277/hr

Detention Sergeant: Begins $46,452/yr

Detention Lieutenant: Begins $52,636/yr

Detention Captain: Begins $63,346/yr

*Pay may vary depending on experience.

Incentive Pay

Officers are eligible for incentive pay for education and team participation.

Education:
Associates degree - $75/month
Bachelor’s degree - $150/month
Masters degree - $225/month

Advanced Licenses:
Intermediate - $75/month
Advanced - $150/month
Master - $225/month
