AS A MEMBER OF OUR TEAM, YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO PUBLIC SAFETY BY
PROVIDING SUPERVISION, CASE MANAGEMENT AND INTERVENTION SERVICES
TO CRIMINAL OFFENDERS RELEASED TO THE COMMUNITY. THE P/P
OFFICER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SUPERVISING A CASELOAD
CONSISTING OF BOTH HIGH AND LOW RISK OFFENDERS. THE P/P
OFFICER UTILIZES ELECTRONIC MONITORING SYSTEMS, CURFEWS,
SEARCHES AND DRUG SCREENINGS AS INTERVENTIONS. THE
P/P OFFICER DEVELOPS & IMPLEMENTS EXTENSIVE CASE MANAGEMENT
PLANS,
USING PRINCIPLES OF EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICES, TO CONTINUE THE
REHABILITATION PROCESS AND WORK TOWARD SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF
THE PROBATION/PAROLE SUPERVISION. POSITION REQUIRES THE
FLEXIBILITY TO WORK DAY OR EVENING SCHEDULES AND PROVIDE
ON-CALL COVERAGE. IN ADDITION
THE P/P OFFICER TESTIFIES IN COURT AND HAS EXTENSIVE INTERACTION
WITH COURT PERSONNEL, VICTIMS, COMMUNITY AGENCIES, AND LAW
ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL. PLEASE INDICATE THE

THE SUCCESSFUL P/P OFFICER DEMONSTRATES: EFFECTIVE ORAL &
WRITTEN COMMUNICATION SKILLS; STRONG PROBLEM-SOLVING AND
ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS;ABILITY TO USE COMPUTER SOFTWARE TO
MAINTAIN ELECTRONIC RECORDS AND DATABASES; ABILITY TO EXERCISE
INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT; ABILITY TO WORK WITH AND MAINTAIN
POSITIVE PROFESSIONAL WORKING RELATIONSHIPS WITH CLIENTS,
COMMUNITY LEADERS, LAW ENFORCEMENT, AND COURT OFFICIALS. MUST
MAINTAIN A PROFESSIONAL DEMEANOR WHILE WORKING WITH POTENTIALLY
VOLATILE AND ASSAULTIVE CLIENTS AND BE ABLE TO DEFEND SELF AND
OTHERS
IF THE NEED ARISES.
THE P/P OFFICER MUST: PASS DRUG SCREENING, PHYSICAL AND
PSYCHOLOGICAL TESTS AND A BACKGROUND CHECK; BE A US
CITIZEN, HAVE A VALID NC DRIVERS LICENSE, AND LIVE WITHIN
30 MILES OF THE COUNTY TO WHICH ASSIGNED.
ONCE HIRED, THE P/P OFFICER MUST PASS A FIREARMS TEST AND
SELF-DEFENSE CLASS.
TRAINEE APPOINTMENTS MAY BE CONSIDERED SHOULD THE NUMBER OF
POSITION OPPORTUNITIES EXCEED THE NUMBER OF AVAILABLE
QUALIFIED CANDIDATES. TRAINEE RANGE IS $32,796-$35,337.
Training and Experience Requirements
GRADUATION FROM A FOUR-YEAR COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY WITH A MAJOR
IN CRIMINAL JUSTICE, CORRECTIONAL SERVICES, PSYCHOLOGY,
SOCIAL WORK, OR OTHER RELATED HUMAN SERVICES FIELD, AND
ONE YEAR OF EXPERIENCE AS A
PROBATION/PAROLE OFFICER; OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE.*
APPLICANTS WITH A HUMAN SERVICE DEGREE, SUCH AS DIVINITY,
EDUCATION, HEALTH EDUCATION, RELIGION, POLITICAL SCIENCE,
SOCIAL SCIENCE, SOCIOLOGY, SPECIAL EDUCATION, THERAPEUTIC
EDUCATION, OR SIMILAR SUBJECTS MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF
HIS/HER COLLEGE TRANSCRIPT FOR
EVALUATION.
