Sworn law enforcement officers perform the traditional Police Officer responsibilities in a unique airport environment. The department offers diverse assignments including K9, investigations, special response team, bike patrol, and drug enforcement. Training is continuous and convenient with a shooting range and training center located on airport property.
Qualifications include:
- Must be 21 years of age or older and a citizen of the United States with a valid operator’s license and pass drug and criminal background screenings. Must not have been convicted of any felony, or of a misdemeanor, involving perjury or false statement.
And at least one of the following:
- Sixty (60) or more semester hours/ninety (90) or more quarter hours from an accredited college/university, or
- Two (2) years of active-duty military (if discharged must be under honorable conditions), or
- Three (3) years of full-time work experience, or
- Current Kentucky Peace Officer Professional Standards (POPS) certification and have served a minimum of one (1) year as a sworn officer, or
- Certified Police Officer from another state and have served a minimum of one (1) year as a sworn officer.
