MAJOR DUTIES: |
|
Serves as a journey level criminal investigator with responsibility for providing professional investigation services and assistance to supported organizations within the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS). Professional investigative services include the collection, analysis, and presentation of pertinent investigative information to DFAS management for administrative matters and to assistant U.S. attorneys for criminal matters. Exercises sound judgment in identifying critical, specific investigative steps and methodology for each investigation as well as ensuring normal/usual investigative steps are included in each investigation. Plans, organizes, and conducts complex investigations of violations of DFAS policies and instructions, and United States statutes and regulations such as Titles 10, 15, 18 and 48 of the United States Code, including the Federal Acquisition Regulation, misuse of government equipment, travel and time card fraud, and conflicts of interest, and other Federal statues covering violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Participates in large-scale investigations of criminal activities. Helps determine the scope of investigations and utilizes the expertise of subject matter experts, auditors, Office of General Counsel (OGC) attorneys or other personnel in the investigative process. Plans and conducts investigations with extreme tact and discretion. |
