Under general supervision, performs specialized law enforcement work on an assigned shift in the care and security of inmates in an assigned area of the County detention facility.

Essential Duties:

Work involves monitoring security and inmate/detainees movement within the facility and supervising inmate/detainee activity, including meals, razors, medications, commissary, laundry exchange and work assignments. Prepares various reports and logs. Maintains security during visitation and advising inmates as required. Employee is responsible for operating computer and surveillance monitors. Supervises visitation of inmates, assists visitors, inspects items brought to jail for inmates, and screens and monitors person seeking access to secure areas within the jail. Employee is subject to the usual hazards of contact with jail inmates and detainees.

 Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to pass basic jail operation training.

 Special Requirements:

Must take and pass a written exam, oral interview, polygraph and provide information for background investigation. Must also pass a medical, drug screen and psychological test.
