COMMUNICATIONS OPERATOR

Sarasota County Sheriff's Office

 

Duties


Answer emergency and non-emergency telephones. Operators must listen and accurately record information provided by citizens, police, fire and medical personal and be able to accurately relay this information to the appropriate personnel.  They are often called upon to make decisions quickly, accurately and effectively.  An Operator must be self-motivated and work well as part of a team. To be a successful Operator you must be able to perform multiple tasks.

Minimum Qualifications


  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must be able to pass a Skills Assessment test
  • Must be able to pass a Personality Assessment test
  • Must submit to a complete background investigation, polygraph, and psychological evaluation and found to be of good moral character.

     

Other Information


Communication Operators have rotating days off and work in shifts which may include, days, evenings, nights, weekends and/or holidays.
