DESCRIPTION OF JOB

Performs general law enforcement duties which include problem solving, investigation of crime, apprehension of suspects, enforcement of traffic laws, and the investigation of traffic accidents, community education, and working with community members to enhance the quality of life in our community.

STANDARDS FOR INITIAL CONSIDERATION

• Must be United States citizen;
• Must be at least 21 years of age on the date of hire;
• No domestic violence or felony criminal activity;
• Minimum of high school diploma;
• Demonstrated competency in customer service skills;
• Demonstrated understanding of community policing concepts and a willingess to embrace a community policing and problem solving approach to policing;
• Successfully complete aptitude, psychological, and physical agility tests;
• Successfully pass a complete background check, including polygraph;
• Pass medical exam and drug/alcohol screening following a conditional ofFer of employment;
• Vision correctable to 2020;
• Possess valid Kansas driver's license, a valid driver's license in the state of residence with the ability to obtain a Kansas driver's license within 30 days after employment date;
• Applicants must live in Lyon county or relocate to Lyon County if selected for employment.
