Job Description:
The police officer recruit, under the immediate supervision
of another police officer is responsible for the protection
of life, property, and facilitites of the University
community throught the proper administration and enfircement
of regulations and laws in conformance with standard law
enforcement practices in an institution of higher learning.
These duties may involve an element of personal danger.

Requirements:
Applications are being accepted to develop a Police Officer
Recruit Candidate List. Qualified applicants may be
considered for Police Officer Recruit vacancies effective
for six months beginning approximately October 7, 2009.
Inclusion on this list does not guarantee future employment
at UAHuntsville. Minimum qualifications include a high
school education or its equivalent, though some college is
preferred; must be a minimum of 19 years old; possession of
a valid driver's license; the ability to work shifts and
U.S. citizenship is required. Prior APOST certification is
desired and certified candidates must provide a copy of
their Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training
Commission Certification prior to appointment. Successful
applicants must pass an extensive background check and
medical, drug, psychological and physical ability tests
prior to being selected to attend an Alabama Police Academy.
The approximate salary will be $27,000 with an excellent
benefits package. Applications will be accepted immediately
