The purpose of this classification is for AmeriCorp Police Cadets to establish partnerships with Albany Residents within four (4) four target neighborhoods, resulting in a notable increase of citizen participation in crime prevention, capacity building, and problem solving activities. In addition, AmeriCorp Cadets will be afforded leadership opportunities through joint efforts with Albany Police Department and the community stakeholders.

Duties:

Bike patrol; greeting citizens and assisting as needed.

Conduct a wellness check on senior citizens.

Patrol additional hours in assigned neighborhoods.

Participate in after school programs.

Attend daily briefings.

Help organize and participate in community service programs.

May attend and participate in AmeriCorp related seminars and training.

Performs other community oriented duties as required.

 Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED; must possess a valid Georgia driver's license; must be at least 18 years of age; must be able to pass a physical agility test; must be a U.S. Citizen or resident status; must be able to pass a rigorous background check.
